Final Thoughts

Reflecting back on my time in Germany I am really glad I had to opportunity to have that experience. It showed me a lot and took me out of my comfort zone. Some of the final things I got to experience on the trip was going to another refuge camp and enjoying delicious Afghan food. The last camp we went to was one of the nicest I had seen. When we showed up to the building it reminded me of an office building and when we went inside it was very clean and had lots of space for families such as play rooms, a playground, and a meeting room. They also explained that originally the showers were in the basements so when people needed to shower they had to go all the way down there. They renovated it to have bathrooms on the floors and new kitchens which were very nice especially compared to some of the previous ones. In the first camp they had told us that refuges staying there could clean the building for 1 euro an hour which I thought was outrageous, but at this camp they had cleaners go in to clean the building. On our last night on the trip we met up with out NGOs to have dinner. It was nice getting to talk to them and reflect on our past couple of weeks with them. It was really enjoyable and the food was amazing. I especially enjoyed that part because I was having a hard time coming out of my comfort zone and eating new foods on the trip so when we went to the restaurant I finally tried something new and really enjoyed the food and I even miss it sometimes. Overall I am really glad I went on this trip and it opened my eyes to the world around me.
