Learning and Being Tested
By Crystal Rawls

The past few days on our trip in Munich has been an eye opening and amazing experience. I have learned so much so far and I have also been tested emotionally. Learning about my NGO and what they do to help the refugee population and the asylum seekers here in Munich has been fascinating and hearing some of the stories that these refugees have to tell has been heartbreaking. Going to the concentration camp tested me the most emotionally and learning about the history Munich and the Holocaust and how it ties into migration has been both interesting and devastating, but I am happy that I attend the two part tour because I learned so much about the city and the story of the
individuals that should and needs to be told. Also, meeting the Afghan family was an amazing experience and learning about the struggles that this family gone through and continue to go through, while they all still have a positive outlook on their lives has been inspiring. The food in Germany has also been amazing (especially the chocolate and ice cream) and being able to connect with all of the students on the trip has been my favorite part thus far. I am so excited to see what the rest of the trip has in store and what I will learn and experience in the next few days.
